Greetings! What an honor it is to be a school counselor for Waller ISD.

My twenty-four years of experience in education span from working with students PreK-12 in both Arizona and Texas. I began my teaching career at the high school level followed by junior high and elementary levels. I have taught science, Spanish, P.E., health, Gifted & Talented, and English as a Second Language, as well as coached both boys and girls sports. I was chosen as Magnolia Junior High's Teacher of the Year for 2013-2014 and was recognized as a 2014 Statewide Semi-Finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education award. I am a 2014 graduate of Lamar University with a Master of Education in School Counseling and a 1992 graduate of Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Forestry. I hold Texas Certification in School Counseling, Science, and English as a Second Language.

"Josie," a Golden Retriever, "Hank," an Australian Shepherd, and "Remy," also an Australian Shepherd are members of our FSE staff. The dogs are registered with Intermountain Therapy Animals. Josie, Hank, Remy and I offer Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) and Animal-Assisted Therapy in Counseling as part of our comprehensive counseling program. We have an additional certification for the R.E.A.D program (Reading Education Assistance Dogs). This year we are extending our support to students at Schultz Junior High and Waller High School. Soon, I will be introducing "Story" who is a Golden Retriever puppy and hopes to someday be a therapy dog herself.
My research and advocacy on the use of AAI has been presented at the local, regional, state, and national levels to others in the counseling profession. Please link to Counseling Support under the FSE Staff page to read more about Hank, Josie, and Remy.
